Universal Credit: Fee-free banking boost

Once you are on Universal Credit, your benefits will be paid on the same day of the month every month.

fee-free banking

Make sure you think about how you budget so that you have enough money to cover your costs for the month – especially for your rent.

We can help you set up a Direct Debit to pay your rent every month.

We can also help you set up a fee-free bank account to help you avoid extra charges from your bank.

Tenants who sign up for a fee-free bank account and pay their rent by Direct Debit can get £50 interest-free credit.

There are no charges under fee-free bank accounts if a Direct Debit or standing order fails.

Direct Debit is a quicker, easier and more secure way to pay rent – and the £50 interest-free credit will support tenants who have a fee-free bank account and pay their rent that way.

Remember, there are lots of other ways Loretto can help tenants who are struggling to make ends meet, from free furniture to help into jobs and training.
