Tenants' joy at new Loretto homes

Tenants have been moving into 44 new Loretto homes in Wallacewell Gate, Balornock, Glasgow.

Loretto housing officer Yvonne Reilly showed tenants round their new homes – and they are thrilled with the quality of their homes.

One tenant said: “I was dancing. I was so emotional.”

Another said: “It’s totally amazing. I’m so happy.”

Yvonne said: “Helping people move into their new homes is always the best part of our job.

“To see the joy on people’s faces when they see their new home, especially for the first time, is so satisfying.

“It shows you how new homes really can change people’s lives.

“Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our colleagues from the development team and the clerk of works.

“Great team effort, great homes – and great reactions from tenants.”

As well as the homes in Wallacewell Gate, 28 new Loretto homes in Muiryhall Street, Coatbridge, and 42 in Shawbridge Street, Glasgow, should also be complete by the end of next month.

Meanwhile, another 28 new Loretto homes, part of a conversion of the former Greenview School in Buckley Street, Glasgow, should be ready by the end of the summer.
