Tenant group is ready for action

A new tenant group is helping change Loretto communities for the better.

The Community Action Group invites tenants to ‘tell us what you want us to know’.

Members decide the priorities for their community – with housing staff supporting the plans to help make the ideas happen.

The group, which was set up in April, has already had a big impact. New planters have been added to a Loretto development in Blantyre with plans in place for new seating. Work will also start soon on a new outreach group to support Loretto customers who feel isolated and to promote more friendly and inclusive communities.

Anne Ross, who is one of the 26 members, said: “I would encourage other Loretto customers to get involved. It’s a chance to have a direct say. Like most people I lose interest if nothing happens, but with the Community Action Group you can see the progress. Being part of the group you get to see an idea develop from A to B to C to the final goal”.

Panel members identified four key themes:

  • repairs and improvements
  • neighbourhoods and communities
  • environments
  • communications.

Customers can get involved in any of the four themes. The groups come together quarterly to report on what they have achieved.

The next meeting is on 23 August, from 10.30am-12.30pm, at Lipton House, 2nd floor, 170 Crown Street, Glasgow, G5 9XD.

To join the group, or for more information, please email jade.febers@wheatley-group.com or call 0141 274 7638.

Refreshments will be provided. We can also help arrange transport.
