Type of service provided
The Mill Road service provides combined Housing support and Care at Home service to 6 Vulnerable Lone Parents aged 16 to 25 yrs and their child/children, and who are currently given high priority homeless status. Service users may also have a range of additional support requirements, such as moderate physical disabilities, mental health issues, learning difficulties and/or substance misuse issues. The service is staffed 24 hrs per day and includes an emergency sleepover facility between 11pm and 8am.
The staff team consists of :-
1 x Project Manager
5 x Support Workers
The service supports Lone Parents and their child/children to develop the skills to manage their own tenancies and develop the necessary skills which will encourage them to take on their responsibilities as parents. Each service user has their own self contained furnished flat with an individual package of care which is focused on them and their child/children needs and is designed to maximise their independence. The service operates a multi agency approach, which includes involvement from Social Work services, Health Services, Housing and the voluntary sector and is designed to ensure that Service Users and their child/children can maintain their tenancies with Loretto and then move on successfully to mainstream accommodation.
How to make a referral and who to contact
Referrals to the project are received from both Social Work and Housing Departments in the South Lanarkshire area. Referring agencies will be asked to complete a referral form in full outlining the vulnerability of the service user and their child/children they are referring. Service user are also asked to provide an outline of the referral current support networks.
